Record #110360:

Photoadaptation of sea-ice microalgae in the Barents Sea / Geir Johnsen, Else Nøst Hegseth.

Title: Photoadaptation of sea-ice microalgae in the Barents Sea / Geir Johnsen, Else Nøst Hegseth.
Author(s): Johnsen, Geir.
Hegseth, Else Nøst.
Date: 1991.
In: Polar Biology. (1991.), Vol. 11 (1991)
Abstract: Describes variations in under-ice scalar irradiance, P vs I parameters and CHLa C⁻¹ ratio of natural assemblages of sea-ice microalgae growing at -1.8° C in May and September 1988. Included one diurnal station. Assemblages in May were dominated by pennate diatoms, and in September by planktonic species. Results indicate that algal communities at under-side of ice are shade-adapted even in brightest part of season.
