Abstract: Time- and temperature-dependent ice-flow model applied to central flow band (Ice Stream B) of ice shelf. Response of ice shelf to three climatic scenarios that may result from increasing CO₂ and trace greenhouse gases is simulated. Results range from slight thickening with moderately increased back pressure in grounding zone to rapid thinning accompanied by rapidly decreasing back pressure during 175- to 600-a simulations, depending primarily upon whether increasing surface temperatures and accumulation rates are accompanied by increased rates of basal melting.
