Cometary analogue material: preparation, composition, and thin section petrography / D. Stöffler, H. Düren, J. Knölker, R. Hische, A. Bischoff.
Title: | Cometary analogue material: preparation, composition, and thin section petrography / D. Stöffler, H. Düren, J. Knölker, R. Hische, A. Bischoff. |
Author(s): | Stöffler, D. Düren, H. Knölker, J. Hische, R. Bischoff, A. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Geophysical Research Letters. (1991.), Vol. 18(2) (1991) |
Abstract: | Article relates to H₂O-bearing samples. Synthesized in large quantities by spraying dust-water suspensions into liquid nitrogen. Polished and thin sections can be obtained for optical microscopy. Changes in intergrowth characteristics, grain size of ice crystals, and porosity were observed in irradiated and compressed samples, due to sublimation-condensation-recrystallization and compaction-recrystallization effects, respectively. |
Notes: | Geophysical Research Letters. Vol. 18(2) :285-288 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.32 -- Glaciology. 523.64 -- Comets. 551.321.81 -- Ice analogues, experimental. E13 -- Glaciology: glacioastronomy. |
