Record #110242:

The design of a high-pressure low-temperature triaxial deformation cell for ice / P.R. Sammonds, S.A.F. Murrell, M.A. Rist, D. Butler.

Title: The design of a high-pressure low-temperature triaxial deformation cell for ice / P.R. Sammonds, S.A.F. Murrell, M.A. Rist, D. Butler.
Author(s): Sammonds, P. R.
Murrell, S. A. F.
Rist, M. A.
Butler, D.
Date: 1991.
In: Cold Regions Science and Technology. (1991.), Vol. 19(2) (1991)
Abstract: Cell is capable of deforming cylindrical ice specimens 120 mm long by 40 mm diameter at strain rates of up to 10⁻² s⁻¹ under closed-loop servo-control, at confining pressures up to 300 MPa and temperatures down to -90°C. Discusses unusual problems involving pressure vessel design and material selection, high-pressure seals, test specimen jacketing and instrumentation, resulting from low temperature operating requirements.
