Record #110239:

Chaos in continuous-mode icebreaking / R. Ettema, M. Sharifi, K.P. Georgakakos, F. Stern.

Title: Chaos in continuous-mode icebreaking / R. Ettema, M. Sharifi, K.P. Georgakakos, F. Stern.
Author(s): Ettema, R.
Sharifi, M.
Georgakakos, K. P.
Stern, F.
Date: 1991.
In: Cold Regions Science and Technology. (1991.), Vol. 19(2) (1991)
Abstract: Presents results of study in which elements of chaos theory were applied to analysis of ice-tank experiments using POLAR-Class icebreaker hull. Primary aim was to determine whether continuous-mode icebreaking should be characterized as being intrinsically stochastic or deterministic; secondary aim was to assess what insights could be gained by application of chaos theory. Results and implications discussed.
