Glacial deposits and Quaternary stratigraphy of the Isle of Man / Roger V. Dackombe, Geoffrey S.P. Thomas.
Title: | Glacial deposits and Quaternary stratigraphy of the Isle of Man / Roger V. Dackombe, Geoffrey S.P. Thomas. |
Author(s): | Dackombe, Roger V. Thomas, Geoffrey S. P. |
Date: | 1991. |
Publisher: | Rotterdam, Brookfield: A.A. Balkema |
In: | Glacial deposits in Great Britain and Ireland. (1991.), |
Abstract: | Traditionally, deposits have been divided into two suites: one of local insular origin, restricted to uplands, and foreign, derived by successive ice advances from Scotland; this is well exposed in coastal cliffs bounding north. Until recently, this was thought to have been deposited by land ice, but recent workers have argued that whole of this Devensian glacial succession in Isle of Man is glaciomarine in origin. Text references to other publications at end of volume. |
