Title: | The glacial deposits of northwestern Norfolk / Jürgen Ehlers, Philip L. Gibbard, Colin A. Whiteman. |
Author(s): | Ehlers, Jürgen. Gibbard, Philip L. Whiteman, Colin A. |
Date: | 1991. |
Publisher: | Rotterdam, Brookfield: A.A. Balkema |
In: | Glacial deposits in Great Britain and Ireland. (1991.), |
Abstract: | Marly Drift does not represent individual stratigraphical unit but is chalk-rich facies of "normal" Anglian till, i.e. Lowestoft Till. Investigations have demonstrated that there is not one Marly Drift, but two. Older was deposited by ice advancing from south-west whereas younger was deposited by ice advancing from north. Both tills belong to Anglian Stage; they represent different advance directions of same ice sheet. Text references to other publications at end of volume. |
