Record #110178:
Interannual variability of the spatial distribution of sea ice in the north polar region / Claire L. Parkinson.
Title: | Interannual variability of the spatial distribution of sea ice in the north polar region / Claire L. Parkinson. |
Author(s): | Parkinson, Claire L. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1991.), Vol. 96(C3) (1991) |
Abstract: | Uses passive microwave data from Nimbus 5 and 7 satellites. Monthly maps are presented of range of sea-ice distributions over period of data sets (1973-87); and, for September and March, more detailed maps are also presented showing number of years in which sea ice occurred. Major purposes of maps are to identify regions with high and low interannual variability and to provide base against which future sea-ice distributions can be compared in continuing attempt to monitor and analyze climate change. |
Notes: | Journal of Geophysical Research. Vol. 96(C3) :4791-4801 (1991). |
