Evidence for stability enhancement of sea ice in the Greenland and Labrador seas / R.F. Marsden, Lawrence A. Mysak, R.A. Myers.

Title: Evidence for stability enhancement of sea ice in the Greenland and Labrador seas / R.F. Marsden, Lawrence A. Mysak, R.A. Myers.
Author(s): Marsden, R. F.

Myers, R. A.
Date: 1991.
In: Journal of Geophysical Research. (1991.), Vol. 96(C3) (1991)
Abstract: Summer salinities from three locations bordering Greenland and Iceland are examined and compared with colocated sea-ice concentrations. For period 1953-80, it is shown that lag correlations between surface salinity and sea-ice anomalies has common structure where salinity anomalies lead sea-ice anomalies. Correlation structure can be reproduced by simple statistical feedback model using nonstationary negative feedback coefficient to account for salinity forcing of ice anomalies. Data presented are all consistent with concept of stability enhancement of sea-ice formation.
