Abstract: Model developed by coupling Hibler ice model to three-dimensional ocean model that consists of turbulent mixed layer model and inverse geostrophic model. Forced with 12-h synoptic atmospheric fluxes for 1986, for which good quality ice-edge analyses and buoy tracks were available for comparisons. Study aimed at understanding seasonal behaviour of ice and underlying upper ocean structure, and examining contributions to heat and salt budgets by various processes in regions under ice in marginal ice zone and in open water.
