Wind-induced mesoscale features in a coupled ice-ocean system / M. Ikeda.
Title: | Wind-induced mesoscale features in a coupled ice-ocean system / M. Ikeda. |
Author(s): | Ikeda, M. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1991.), Vol. 96(C3) (1991) |
Abstract: | Quasi-geotrophic, mesoscale, eddy-resolving model is coupled with free-drifting sea ice to examine mesoscale oceanic features, which are induced by wind forcing on nonuniform ice distribution, and redistribution of sea ice. Shows that these features can be generated in ice-covered ocean far from strong ocean currents; thus results may be applied to Labrador shelf far from Labrador Current and to Sea of Okhotsk far from Oyashio Current. |
Notes: | Journal of Geophysical Research. Vol. 96(C3) :4623-4629 (1991). |
