Rapid disintegration of the Wordie Ice Shelf in response to atmospheric warming / Christopher S.M. Doake, David G. Vaughan.
Title: | Rapid disintegration of the Wordie Ice Shelf in response to atmospheric warming / Christopher S.M. Doake, David G. Vaughan. |
Author(s): | Doake, Christopher S. M. Vaughan, David G. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Nature. (1991.), Vol. 350(6316) (1991) |
Abstract: | Presents satellite images taken from 1974 to 1989, showing fracture processes responsible for iceberg calving and weakening of central region of ice shelf. Processes were apparently enhanced by presence of increased amounts of meltwater, resulting from warming trend recorded in mean annual air temperatures in Marguerite Bay. |
Notes: | Nature. Vol. 350(6316) :328-330 (1991). |
