Record #110125:

Laboratory-determined permeability of cores from the Kola superdeep well, USSR / D. Lockner, and 6 others.

Title: Laboratory-determined permeability of cores from the Kola superdeep well, USSR / D. Lockner, and 6 others.
Author(s): Lockner, D.
Date: 1991.
In: Geophysical Research Letters. (1991.), Vol. 18(5) (1991)
Abstract: Describes method and presents results of constant flow-rate permeability measurements on three core samples taken from 12 km deep well in Poluostrov Kol'skiy. This superdeep well provides opportunity to study processes controlling state and mobility of fluids in mid to lower crust. Measurements were made in laboratory as direct down-hole ones could not be carried out due to extreme hole enlargement below 6 km. Demonstrates how method may be an alternative to differential strain analysis and P-wave velocity measurements.
