Variations in permafrost thickness in response to changes in paleoclimate / Thomas E. Osterkamp, Joan P. Gosink.
Title: | Variations in permafrost thickness in response to changes in paleoclimate / Thomas E. Osterkamp, Joan P. Gosink. |
Author(s): | Osterkamp, Thomas E. Gosink, Joan P. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1991.), Vol. 96(B3) (1991) |
Abstract: | Analytical (perturbation) and numerical (finite difference and finite element) solution methods were applied to heat conduction problem in permafrost with step, linear, sinusoidal, and other potential palaeotemperature models of surface temperature history of deep permafrost near Prudhoe Bay, AK. Results used to compare solutions, to investigate thickness response and current state of permafrost, and to develop general constraints on palaeotemperature models of surface temperature history. |
Notes: | Journal of Geophysical Research. Vol. 96(B3) :4423-4434 (1991). |
