Abstract: Based on data from trawl surveys in August 1989 and others, demonstrates that mesopelagic zone (200-500 m) is more densely populated by squid, largest catches being more than 500 kg/h. Greatest density occurs in northern part of basin of TINRO (Pacific Scientific Research Institute for Fishing and Oceanography) and south-western shore of Kamchatka. Five groupings of squid are identified.
