Abstract: Considerable amounts of chlorine dioxide were observed in stratosphere above Søndre Strømfjord, showing highly perturbed chlorine chemistry. Two incidences of increased production occur repeatedly at 92° and 89° solar zenith angle (SZA). In early January, morning values exceed those found at dusk for comparable SZA, whereas towards end of month morning values become depressed compared to evening ones. Twilight vertical column densities often reach about 1.6x10¹³ molec cm⁻² and comparison shows increase from 1988 to 1990.
