Abstract: During first LTCS, 21-25 September 1987, data were recorded from incoherent scatter radar sites at EISCAT, Millstone Hill, Sondrestrom [Søndre Strømfjord] (Greenland), and Arecibo. Ionospheric parameters (Ne, Te, Ti, and plasma velocity) were measured in E and F regions; they have been used to determine E region neutral wind and infer neutral temperature in height range 100-150 km. Three-dimensional coupled thermosphere-ionosphere model simulated this period of observation, by imposing tidal forcing at lower boundary and magnetospheric forcing at high latitudes, in attempt to interpret and understand experimental data.
