Record #109744:
Permafrost response to surface temperature change and its implications for the 40,000-year surface temperature history at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska / W.D. Harrison.
Title: | Permafrost response to surface temperature change and its implications for the 40,000-year surface temperature history at Prudhoe Bay, Alaska / W.D. Harrison. |
Author(s): | Harrison, W. D. |
Date: | 1991. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1991.), Vol. 96(B1) (1991) |
Abstract: | Interprets geothermal data of Lachenbruch and co-workers (1982), developing two theories: "forward" for calculating response characteristics of permafrost to surface temperature disturbance, and "inverse" for extracting parameters characterizing surface temperature and permafrost histories from geothermal data. Theories are applied to data from Prudhoe Bay, and results and conclusions are discussed. |
Notes: | Journal of Geophysical Research. Vol. 96(B1) :683-695 (1991). |
Keywords: | 551.345.2 -- Permafrost, formation and decay. 551.345 -- Permafrost. Cryopedology. 536 -- Heat. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. (*49) -- Alaska. (*494) -- Alaska, northwestern. |
