Abstract: | Reports series of events in week of June 25-29, 1990, designed to celebrate long-standing relationship between Britain and New Zealand in the south polar regions. These included the two-day "Symposium on Antarctica and Global Climate Change" held at Selwyn College; an exhibition mounted by the Antarctic Heritage Trust (New Zealand) in the museum of the Scott Polar Research Institute, highlighting the historic sites and artefacts of Borchgrevink, Scott and Shackleton and their conservation, "Preserving Antarctica's Heritage"; and a public lecture by Sir Edmund Hillary entitled "Everest to Antarctica: outlooks for world conservation". |
