Abstract: Only days before scheduled commencement of Global Acoustic Transmission Experiment (GATE), designed to monitor an acoustic signal generated from near Heard Island from 21 sites around the world to detect fluctuations in ocean temperature indicative of global warming, environmentalists seek to prevent experiment in order to protect whales and other sea mammals.
