Record #109569:

Recent thinning of the ice sheet near Mizuho station, east Antarctica / M. Nakawo, M. Shimizu, T. Kameda, O. Watanabe.

Title: Recent thinning of the ice sheet near Mizuho station, east Antarctica / M. Nakawo, M. Shimizu, T. Kameda, O. Watanabe.
Author(s): Nakawo, M.
Shimizu, M.
Kameda, T.
Watanabe, O.
Date: [1991]
Publisher: Geneva: World Meteorological Organization
In: Proceedings of the International Conference on Climatic Impacts on the Environment and Society (CIES), University of Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan, January 27--February 1, 1991. ([1991]),
Abstract: Thinning appears to be significant; could be due to basal sliding (surging?) of ice sheet. Analyses of 700 m snow/ice core suggests that surface elevation of ice sheet has decreased by 300 to 400 m since 1 to 2 ka BP, which could have been triggered by warm climate at that time.
