Title: AMLR 1989/90 field season report. Objectives, accomplishments and tentative conclusions / Antarctic Ecosystem Research Group. Southwest Fisheries Centre.
Author (corporate): Antarctic Ecosystem Research Group.
Date: 1990.
In: United States. AMLR (Antarctic Marine Living Resources) Program. Field Season Report. (1990.), LJ-90-11 (1990)
Abstract: Reports initial results of field research in South Shetland Islands into relationships between krill, their predators, and key environmental parameters. Includes physical oceanography studies; direct krill sampling; hydroacoustic survey for prey organisms; phytoplankton/primary production studies; logistics, operations, seal and seabird research at Seal Island; seabird research at Palmer station; fur seal and penguin foraging areas near Seal Island; crabeater seal research in pack ice areas near Antarctic Peninsula; seabeam data collection; marine mammal survey including genetic variability and stock identity of humpback whales; thermal structure and geostrophy in Drake Passage; and report of US CCAMLR inspection of Japanese research vessel Aso Maru.
