The demonstration of a herpes virus, related to bovine herpes virus 1, in reindeer with ulcerative and necrotizing lesions of the upper alimentary tract and nose / G. Rockborn, and seven others.

Title: The demonstration of a herpes virus, related to bovine herpes virus 1, in reindeer with ulcerative and necrotizing lesions of the upper alimentary tract and nose / G. Rockborn, and seven others.
Author(s): Rockborn, G.
Date: 1990.
In: Rangifer. (1990.), (1990)
Abstract: 11 reindeer showing signs of conjunctivitis and later of ulcerative and necrotizing lesions of mucosa of nose and mouth had blood and secretions from nose sampled. Antibodies to herpes virus 1 were found in two animals. Sampling was repeated two weeks later and complemented with mouth lesion biopsies. Four animals were treated with cortisone for eight days. Article gives full details of results of these and further analyses and suggests possible link with earlier severe outbreaks of necrobacillosis in herds.
