Abstract: Effect of crack tip sharpness on fracture toughness (KQ) of S2 ice was studied. Blunt notches gave significantly higher apparent KQ values than sharp cracks. Crack tip opening displacement (CTOD) measured indicates existence of microplastic deformation near crack tip.
