| Abstract: | Dating of wood at altitude of 2080 m a.s.l., 50 m in front of present terminus of glacier, yields first indications of early postglacial fluctuations. Trees were growing here at about 9000 a and reached age of 200 to 300 years. Could not be determined whether these favourable conditions were terminated by advance of Pasterze around 8000 BP. |
