North East Greenland expedition. 1989 Tunnelev River project / Steve Carver, David Sear, Jan Dick, Flemming Rune, Steve Naylor, Ella Brett.
Title: | North East Greenland expedition. 1989 Tunnelev River project / Steve Carver, David Sear, Jan Dick, Flemming Rune, Steve Naylor, Ella Brett. |
Author(s): | Carver, Steve. Sear, David. Dick, Jan. Rune, Flemming. Naylor, Steve. Brett, Ella. |
Date: | [1990?] |
Publisher: | Newcastle upon Tyne: Newcastle University Exploration Society |
Abstract: | Reports expedition to Mesters Vig and Stauning Alps. Objectives included measurement of lead (Pb) and zinc (Zn) concentrations in river sediments due to pre- and post-mining activity and to investigate dispersal of contaminants in river system, impact on bankside flora and to assess value of molybdenum (Mo) mine spoil as tracer of surface glacier movements. Diagrams give detailed comparison of both available and total metal concentrations associated with different geomorphological units - active channel and bar, vegetated alluvium, palaeobar - and with grain sizes. |
