Abstract: Comparative study of beluga and narwhal responses to ice-breaking ships based on three year study in Lancaster Sound. Demonstrates very different behavioural responses exhibited by two species. Whilst narwhals show no overt panic reaction, belugas move rapidly along ice edges away from approaching ships.
