Abstract: | Describes current state of knowledge concerning Late Weichselian deglaciation, and outlines models of deglaciation which have developed during last 100 years of research into this subject in Iceland. Discusses and compares single- , double- , and multi-advance deglaciation models. Latter contains two widely recognized advances of ice sheet during Late Weichselian and Early Holocene, culminating at 9.7 and 10.6 ka BP and also two advances that have been recognized at one locality each, culminating at 11.8 and 12.7 ka BP. |
