Record #107862:

The differential reflectivity column: its importance as embryo source and hailgrowth regions / John W. Conway, Dusan S. Zrnic.

Title: The differential reflectivity column: its importance as embryo source and hailgrowth regions / John W. Conway, Dusan S. Zrnic.
Author(s): Conway, John W.
Zrnic, Dusan S.
Date: 1990.
Publisher: Boston, MA: American Meteorological Society
In: 1990 Conference on Cloud Physics. July 23-27, 1990, San Francisco, Calif.. (1990.),
Abstract: Examines occurrence of columnar region of high differential reflectivity which extends over 2.5 km above freezing level, coincident with rotating updraught in severe Colorado hailstorm. Trajectory analysis and dual-polarization signatures are used to discuss origin of column and its significance as both source of hail embryos and region of hail growth.
Notes:

In: 1990 Conference on Cloud Physics. July 23-27, 1990, San Francisco, Calif. / American Meteorological Society.

Keywords: 551.578.7 -- Hail and soft hail.
E9 -- Glaciology: meteorology and climatology.
(78) -- Western states.
