Abstract: Analyzes course of events in Primorskiy Kray since fisheries industry of Soviet Far East was acknowledged to be "on brink of catastrophe" in June 1989. Most serious problems are still processing into food, and pay, working conditions and housing of industry's workers. Other problems concern size of State orders, non-renewal of fleet, absence of hard-currency payments to workers as their share of export profits, organizational difficulties and lack of overall vision.
