Record #107383:
Studying the early history of life in Greenland / John S. Peel.
Title: | Studying the early history of life in Greenland / John S. Peel. |
Author(s): | Peel, John S. |
Date: | 1990. |
In: | Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse. Rapport. (1990.), Vol. 148 (1990) |
Abstract: | Assemblage of Burgess Shale-like soft-bodied fossils some 20 million years older than those preserved in Burgess Shale (British Columbia, Canada) has been discovered within Lower Cambrian Buen Formation in north-western Peary Land (1978-80 and 1984-85). In July 1989 4-man expedition made larger collections and tried to assess extent of fossiliferous deposits. More than 30 species currently recognized: arthropods, trilobites, sponges, worms; brachiopods and echinoderms are apparently absent; molluscs and hyolithids are rare; several taxa currently defy classification. |
Notes: | Grønlands Geologiske Undersøgelse. Rapport. Vol. 148 :54-56 (1990). |
