Record #107129:

Observations of polar stratospheric clouds in the Arctic winter at 79 N. / Bernd C. Krüger.

Title: Observations of polar stratospheric clouds in the Arctic winter at 79 N. / Bernd C. Krüger.
Author(s): Krüger, Bernd C.
Date: 1990.
In: Geophysical Research Letters. (1990.), Vol. 17(4) (1990)
Abstract: Throughout January 1989 polar stratospheric clouds were frequently observed over Ny-Ålesund (Spitsbergen) by means of lidar instrument. Aerosol layer was located between 17 and 24 km altitude and showed signs of downward movement. Presence of PSCs suggests that same chemical processes that lead to springtime ozone depletion in southern hemisphere may go on during Arctic polar night.
