| Abstract: | Summarizes current knowledge. Three sectors of strongly contrasting geologic structure identified: Barter Island sector - dominated by effects of Eocene to Holocene convergence and uplift, with upwardly convex continental slope; Barrow sector - dominated by effects of middle Early Cretaceous rifting and continental breakup, with upwardly concave continental slope; Chukchi sector - controlled by easterly trending middle Early Cretaceous rift, with continental slope abutting Chukchi borderland. |
