Abstract: | Thickness, and shoving and thickening process, of plastic and real ice were examined, in connection with formation of ice jams in rivers. Distinctions are made between several types of equilibrium thickness and where current static force balance formulation for ice thickness may need improvment. Mechanics of shoving and thickening process are outlined and significance of local instantaneous values of flow and ice properties recognized. Discussion, Vol. 3, p. 377. |
