Late Pleistocene ice-wedge casts and sand-wedge relics in the Wyoming basins, USA / Thomas C. Nissen, Brainerd Mears, Jr.
Title: | Late Pleistocene ice-wedge casts and sand-wedge relics in the Wyoming basins, USA / Thomas C. Nissen, Brainerd Mears, Jr. |
Author(s): | Nissen, Thomas C. Mears, Brainerd, |
Date: | 1990. |
In: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. (1990.), Vol. 1(3-4) (1990) |
Abstract: | Detailed study at six sites, selected because they provide representatives of all Pleistocene cryogenic (periglacial) wedge types so far discovered in basin floors. Ice-wedge casts, sand-wedge relics and composite types, as well as epi-, syn-, and polygenetic forms can be differentiated, and their characteristics are discussed. |
Notes: | Permafrost and Periglacial Processes. Vol. 1(3-4) :201-219 (1990). |
Keywords: | 551.345.3 -- Permafrost, composition and structure. Ice wedges. 551.343.2 -- Cryoturbation and patterned ground. 551.34 -- Geocryology. Frozen ground. E8 -- Glaciology: frost action and permafrost. (78) -- Western states. |
