Record #106676:
Microwave remote sensing in ice engineering / Calvin T. Swift.
Title: | Microwave remote sensing in ice engineering / Calvin T. Swift. |
Author(s): | Swift, Calvin T. |
Date: | 1990. |
Publisher: | Espoo: Helsinki University of Technology |
In: | IAHR. The 10th Symposium on Ice, August 20-24, 1990, Espoo, Finland. Proceedings. (1990.), Vol. 1. |
Abstract: | Reviews basic physics of active and passive remote sensing of sea ice from space. Passive sensing provides all-weather day/night capability of mapping ice edge, determining total ice concentration, and determining distribution of multiyear ice. Active sensing is given less emphasis because of limited amount of data collection time available from space platforms. |
