| Abstract: | Total of 10,650 have been counted off outer coast of Troms, and 953 on 220 km of fjord coastline, 1986-90. Wintering population in study area estimated at about 18,000. Seven samples cannon-netted in early November 1988. Differences in age and sex structure between localities studied, also characteristics such as weight, degree of moult, and site fidelity. Population is thought to be composed of birds which breed in USSR. |
