Record #105867:

The pelagic distribution of marine birds in a heterogeneous environment / George L. Hunt, Jr.

Title: The pelagic distribution of marine birds in a heterogeneous environment / George L. Hunt, Jr.
Author(s): Hunt, George L.,
Date: 1990.
In: Polar Research. (1990.), Vol. 8(1) (1990)
Abstract: Examines roles of hydrographic features in determining abundance or availability of avian prey, with particular reference to polar regions. Reviews recent studies of spatial and numerical concordance of marine birds and their prey: correlations stronger for piscivores than for planktivores. Reviews investigations of multi-species interactions during foraging: flock foraging has both beneficial and negative aspects. Mutualistic interactions between predatory species must be assessed with caution; co-occurrence of predators may be because both seek same prey. Extensive bibliography.
