| Abstract: | Seasonal cycle of phytoplankton biomass in North Atlantic (20 deg S to 70 deg N) is discussed, using monthly mean surface pigment concentration fields from Nimbus 7 coastal zone coder scanner (CZCS) for period December 1978--December 1979. Temporal and spatial distributions of surface pigments are compared with quantities derived from FGGE wind data set, Climate Analysis Centre sea-surface temperature, concurrent hydrographic station data, and climatological mixed-layer depths and heat fluxes. |
