Abstract: Reports psychological studies undertaken by Étienne during 1990 International Trans-Antarctic Expedition in which six men spent seven months travelling 6400 km by dog sledge. These studies were designed to observe problems that can occur during an international expedition involving prolonged isolation in a hostile environment.
