Record #105534:
Scientific plan for deep ice drilling on Law Dome / D.M. Etheridge.
Title: | Scientific plan for deep ice drilling on Law Dome / D.M. Etheridge. |
Author(s): | Etheridge, D. M. |
Date: | 1990. |
In: | ANARE Research Notes. (1990.), Vol. 76 (1990) |
Abstract: | During austral summers from 1990 to 1992, deep-drlling programme will be undertaken at this site in order to extract 1240 m ice core using electromechanical drill in fluid-filled bore hole. Site was selected to give optimum conditions for detailed study of climatic and other changes which have occurred over last 25 ka, and interrelation between these changes. Age of basal ice expected to be 50 ka. Outlines types of records that it is hoped to obtain from analysis of core and surveys of bore hole, analytic procedures to be followed, and logistics required to support analyses. |
Notes: | ANARE Research Notes. Vol. 76 :iv, 1-41 (1990). |
