Abstract: Building constructed in 1967 in Hay River, NWT, with extension in 1973, with metal frame and structural slabs supported on piles based in till. To date, no evidence of movement of buildings, although considerable thaw settlement beneath and around has required addition of material and repaving to restore grades. Settlement still occurring at 10 cm a⁻¹ and is expected to continue for some time.
