Record #105034:

Planning and execution of a 500 m corehole through offshore permafrost / J.P. Ruffell, T.R. Murphy, C.A. Graham.

Title: Planning and execution of a 500 m corehole through offshore permafrost / J.P. Ruffell, T.R. Murphy, C.A. Graham.
Author(s): Ruffell, J. P.
Murphy, T. R.
Graham, C. A.
Date: 1990.
In: Collection Nordicana. (1990.), Vol. 54 (1990)
Abstract: Conventional production of warm oil through saline permafrost would cause thawing, resulting in excessive strains within well casings and system components. Relatively continuous core is required to evaluate extent of this permafrost and its engineering properties. Describes operational aspects of 1988 offshore coring programme in Beaufort Sea. Objectives were to collect site-specific data, determine correlations between geophysical and geotechnical parameters, and develop techniques which could be applied to oil-well drilling.
Notes:

Collection Nordicana. Vol. 54 :271-282 (1990).
