| Abstract: | Presents results obtained during construction of airstrips. At each of five localities, thermocables 5 and 20 m deep were installed to monitor ground thermal regime, with one installed in bedrock, to serve as regional reference. Others were installed in Quaternary deposits or in airstrip fill. Permafrost temperatures at depth of zero annual amplitude and active layer thicknesses vary with latitude. |
