| Abstract: | Account of observations of behaviour and family relationships of Arctic foxes (Alopex lagopus( made on Ostrov Vrangelya; with particular reference to their hunting of snow geese (Anser caerulescens) and lemmings (Lemmus). Stresses inter-relationship of these species and in particular importance of fox predation on evolutionary development of snow goose. Mentions adverse effect of man on snow goose colonies. Nature reserve was set up in 1976. |
