Abstract: | These islands listed as Specially Protected Areas (SPAs) due to breeding populations of species of fulmarine petrels. 1984/85 and 1986/87 surveys of distribution and population size revealed following approximate numbers of breeding pairs: southern fulmars, 5000; Antarctic petrels, 300; cape petrels, 750; and snow petrels, over 1100. Additionally, there were substantial numbers of nonbreeding individuals. |
