Record #104777:
Nondestructive, three-dimensional density measurements of ice core samples by X-ray computed tomography / Toshiyuki Kawamura.
Title: | Nondestructive, three-dimensional density measurements of ice core samples by X-ray computed tomography / Toshiyuki Kawamura. |
Author(s): | Kawamura, Toshiyuki. |
Date: | 1990. |
In: | Journal of Geophysical Research. (1990.), Vol. 95(B8) (1990) |
Abstract: | Results compared with those of conventional hydrostatic weighing method. Concludes that CT scanner is potentially promising tool for measurement of distribution of density and air bubbles in cores from glaciers and ice sheets, and might be used to detect annual layering in ice cores, based on density variations. |
Notes: | Journal of Geophysical Research. Vol. 95(B8) :12, 407-12, 412 (1990). |
Keywords: | 551.321.2 -- Snow and ice, methods of sampling, excavating, drilling, etc. 622.14 -- Core sampling, ice and snow. 53.087.23 -- Remote sensing. 551.32 -- Glaciology. 551.324.82 -- Bubbles in glaciers and ice. 551.324.81 -- Glacier bands, lamination, layering and foliation. 551.324 -- Land ice. 531.754 -- Ice, density. 551.321 -- Glaciological methods and instruments.
