Record #104767:

Ice-marginal thrusting of drift and bedrock: thermal regime, subglacial aquifers, and glacial surges / Howard D. Mooers.

Title: Ice-marginal thrusting of drift and bedrock: thermal regime, subglacial aquifers, and glacial surges / Howard D. Mooers.
Author(s): Mooers, Howard D.
Date: 1990.
In: Canadian Journal of Earth Sciences. (1990.), Vol. 27(6) (1990)
Abstract: Glacial thrust systems composed of blocks of drift and bedrock, associated with hummocky stagnation moraine along margin of Rainy lobe of Laurentide ice sheet in Minnesota, are used in conjunction with palaeoecological studies to constrain numerical model of ice-marginal thermal regime. Results of modelling, including glacier thickness, marginal thermal regime, and subglacial meltwater production, are used to examine conditions required for thrusting and effects of subglacial groundwater movement on ice-marginal thermal regime.
