Abstract: | New stratigraphy scheme (Mackensen and others, 1989) is used as reference both for correlation within suite of cores perpendicular to eastern Weddell Sea continental margin and for correlation with global climate cycles as documented in sediments and oxygen and carbon isotopes of planktonic and benthic foraminifera. This high-resolution stratigraphy permits calculation of sedimentation rates in various cores during individual climatic cycles. |
