Record #104712:
New evidence for preboreal deglaciation of south-central Norway / Richard A. Shakesby, D. McCarroll, Christopher J. Caseldine.
Title: | New evidence for preboreal deglaciation of south-central Norway / Richard A. Shakesby, D. McCarroll, Christopher J. Caseldine. |
Author(s): | Shakesby, Richard A. McCarroll, D. Caseldine, Christopher J. |
Date: | 1990. |
In: | Norsk Geografisk Tidsskrift. (1990.), Vol. 44(3) (1990) |
Abstract: | Mapping and detailed morphological evidence suggest that mounds and ridges at 1200 to 1350 m in upper Breiseterdalen probably represent Rogen moraines, ice-sheet marginal moraines and cirque moraine. ¹⁴C dates from intermoraine hollow suggest peat development began about 8800 BP, confirming preboreal date for deglaciation. Need for revised deglaciation chronology is discussed. |
